Along with about 30 deer over two trips there from our campsite. We actually saw someone hit number 86 as we left Winthrop on Saturday. Lots of people driving way too fast for those conditions. Drive safe oppo. Post about my weekend to come.

If you can’t read it, it says:

Caution

Methow Valley deer kill

YTD 85

Annual 214

$ damage $297,500

I’m actually pretty amazed that neither my wife or I have had a deer strike yet near our new house. We see them crossing all the time.

 This, along with the millions in crop damage every year, is why we have deer season.

Had a huge problem with deer where I used to live. Hunting wasn’t really possible due to relatively dense residential areas (though they did employ hired bow-hunting sharpshooters at one point). Their main efforts were focused on capturing does and giving them some sort of deer birth control (which as you might expect was expensive, and not terribly effective).

 Yeah, it gets trickier in densely populated areas. There's a World Heritage Site a few minutes drive from my house that is smack dab in the middle of the 'burbs and a few miles away from a busy interstate. The place is positively crawling with deer and there's not much that can be done about it since they've learned to stay on protected land.
